Fact #99: ...bottles of beer on the wall

I kinda want to brew my own beer. I mean, everyone's doing it these days. And my motto is, if everyone else can do it, I probably can too.

This is in spite of the fact that after more than a dozen brewery tours (everything from Budweiser to New Belgium to Widmer Brothers) and a brother who's been homebrewing for the past 6 years, I still don't quite get how it works.

I'm serious. It's horrible. I actually paid attention on those tours, too! I listened to the guides and I looked in all the vats and I smelled the hops and all that. Plus, every time my brother brewed beer when I was visiting, I made him explain it to me.

Yeah. I still don't get it. Something about malt and mash and wort. And then... beer! Right? Yes?

But that's exactly why I want to brew a batch! I'm more of a hands-on learner. I'm pretty sure if I do it myself, I'll understand it lots better.

And then I can drink my learnings.

Reason #2 to brew beer:
Being able to use the word 'carboy'
in everyday conversation.

Til tomorrow.

It's fun and easy! I make our beer from the malt extract, which is easier than doing an all-grain beer. But it works, and tastes great! K.I.S.S. is my motto. But wait til Nate weighs in .... you may be convinced to go all-grain.
