Fact #81: Stuff I think about while brushing my teeth

Wanna know what I've been thinking about?

No, it's not puppies!
Okay, it is puppies.

Wanna know what else I've been thinking about? Well, I'll tell you!

Sometimes my mind wanders while I'm brushing my teeth. (Sometimes my feet wander too -- I often take laps around the apartment or walk aimlessly around the living room with a toothbrush hanging out of my mouth.)

This is what I was thinking about while I was brushing my teeth the other day:
Be where you are now.

You can't change where you are now. You might love everything about it, you might hate everything about it. But you can't change it. It just is.

The thing you can change is what you do with every aspect of yourself and your life from this exact moment on.

You can't change your past. You can't change your present. This is where you are. So why would you bother wishing it was something else? It isn't. It's this. This is what you have.

Wish fantastic, beautiful things for the future. Imagine all the things you'd like to do and be. Dream big -- dream so big your eyeballs pop out!

But first, be where you are now. Be where you are now because it's your jumping off place for the rest of your life. And the more you accept where you are, the less you feel like you should already be somewhere else, the more solid a place you'll have to jump off from.

Also, don't forget to floss.

Til tomorrow!

Well put, and very parallel to some of my thoughts since leaving the US. I have a very strong habit of focusing on the future, and not really doing enough to enjoy the present, so I'm trying to work on that! I hope you have some success with that mindset, it makes life much more vivid.

Well said. Not always easy to remember and apply.
